Davide Sozio (b. 1994 Vicenza, Italy)
BIO
Davide Sozio creates site‑specific monumental paintings and participatory installations using reclaimed supports and hand‑made pigments from local soils and minerals. He holds a BFA from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia and an MA in Visual Cultures from Brera, Milan. He has completed residencies in India, Italy and most recently in Genoa. As social artist, he runs projects and workshops with local communities, framing painting as an ethical act of regeneration.
STATEMENT
I question conventions of place and material, inviting communities to shape participatory interventions through an action‑research methodology. By integrating local soils and minerals into handmade tempera, I transform reclaimed fabrics into living canvases that evolve with time, weather and interaction. This collaborative process engages students, adults and marginalized groups in dialogues that celebrate impermanence and ecological awareness. Through these works I explore narratives of shared care and resilience, demonstrating how painting can foster connections between people and place.
