Sheets is a collaborative project developed within the “Albero d’Argento” psychogeriatric ward at Istituto Salvi. Through three participatory workshops, residents created a large-scale collective painting on reclaimed bed sheets, using natural and mineral pigments. The resulting work measures 5 by 3 meters and depicts a vibrant tree, a shared symbol of growth, resilience, and community. Each participant contributed according to their abilities and interests, from painting leaves and fruit to shaping the sky and trunk. The process fostered connection, expression, and a strong sense of shared authorship. By transforming site-responsive materials into art, Sheets bridges clinical care and contemporary practice, highlighting the therapeutic potential of collective creation. The final piece remains on display within the institute, celebrating the creativity of its residents and the power of art to build meaning in unexpected places.
